Pre-Earth Day Clean-Up

Herring Run Watershed – Saturday, April 3rd, 2004

The Maryland Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) (http://membership.acs.org/M/Md/) in conjunction with the Herring Run Watershed Association (http://www.herringrun.org) is participating in a pre-Earth Day Clean-Up event at the Herring Run Watershed.

We are looking for volunteers to help clean-up a section of the watershed that the Maryland ACS has volunteered to be their responsibility:

We will also be giving out Earth Day info letters AND the American Chemical Society’s Earth Day experiment with supplies.  This year’s Earth Day theme is, ‘What do you know about H2O?’ and the experiment is, ‘Testing the pH of Rain Water’. (http://www.chemistry.org/earthday)

**  If you can’t get into the city to help with our specifically identified area but still want to participate, please contact the Herring Run Watershed Association through their website to determine other available sites – there are more than 100 clean up sites in Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Howard and Harford Counties!

The entrance to the park is not labeled with a street sign but there is a sign for Herring Run Park once you turn onto the street.  The meeting location is at the end of the park street by the viaduct under Harford Road.

If you want directions from one of the expressways (695, 895, or 95), please e-mail me at:  chemists4fun@yahoo.com
